Every student a maker!
Leaphy, Robotics for every student
Every student getting creative with technology?
Leaphy makes it possible. We firmly believe that every student can become a ‘maker’.
We do this by bringing educational robots within reach of every school. This way, we increase the opportunities for education and the business community to successfully deal with the fourth industrial revolution.
At Leaphy, students, teachers, and other professionals work together to develop new robotics teaching materials. From textbooks to software, we do it together.
We are Leaphy, will you join us?
Started in the classroom
Started in a classroom in Amersfoort, we now work far beyond the borders of the Netherlands. For example, there is a Leaphy production facility in South Africa and we are active in dozens of schools in Kenya and Ghana. In this way, we try to make robotics education accessible to every student, also outside Europe.
Non-profit
Leaphy is a non-profit for impact organization with ANBI status focused on education. Our offer is therefore exclusively intended for school organizations. Our mission: robotics for every student. From Groningen to Maastricht and from Amsterdam to Johannesburg.
Own hardware and software
Leaphy develops and designs its own robots and software. For example, there is the Leaphy Flitz for beginning techies from grade 5 of primary school. The Leaphy Starling is for the lower years of secondary education. The Leaphy original, where it all started, designed by Hannah and Vroukje, for everything from the first year of secondary school to senior years and even for vocational and higher professional education.

Why Robotics?
Robotics is something you do with both your hands and your head. It is fun and educational, and robotics offers space for all students: creative, technical, linguistic, and mathematical.

-
Social
The world around us is changing thanks to developments in technology. Teachers are expected to help students feel at home in the world of increasingly handy and smart technology. The robot has undeniably become the symbol of this. That also makes the robot a good starting point for a first introduction.
-
Collaboration and communication
All great technical inventions are the product of well-coordinated teams. At Leaphy, we believe it is important to inspire one another and value each other’s contributions. We are therefore strong advocates of Peer2Peer education, where students teach one another.
-
Peer-to-peer education
Secondary school students teaching primary school pupils? At Leaphy, we have had years of positive experience with this. There are many opportunities for both secondary and primary schools.
-
Creative thinking & problem solving
A wooden DIY robot like the Leaphy Original leaves plenty of room for personal design and original ideas.
A robot can have its quirks. That requires problem-solving thinking: are the batteries full? Are the wires actually connected properly? Is the sensor perhaps broken? Is my program correct? Students quickly learn to rule out causes and fix problems.
Leaphy and Digital Literacy
Leaphy aligns with the DL core objectives
As of August 1, 2027, all primary and secondary schools are required to meet the new digital literacy core objectives as established by the SLO. Leaphy’s robots and educational materials have been used for years within digital literacy lessons at various schools and align perfectly with the core objectives regarding programming, as well as AI and communication/networking.
